Clarkson University awarded nearly 800 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees to students from 34 states, 26 countries and 60 New York state counties, this spring. (An additional 275 students received degrees this past winter and summer.)
A total of 1,445 SUNY Oneonta students earned Dean's List honors for the spring 2018 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.
The University at Albany congratulates more than 3,350 students who were named to the Spring 2018 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List earned at least a 3.5 GPA.
Eight SUNY Oneonta students completed internships and also received payment during the Spring 2018 semester, thanks to a number of Fellowships for Internship Support.
Forty eight seniors were recognized for community service efforts during a ceremony at SUNY Oneonta's Alumni Hall Theater last week. The event, which was held May 11, was hosted by the Center for Social Responsibility and Community and was a celebration of seniors who volunteered 350 hours or more during their time at SUNY Oneonta. This year's senior class had 589 seniors who logged 60,517 hours of service in their four years.
More than 200 SUNY Oneonta students were selected to present at the 2018 SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC), hosted by SUNY Oneonta on April 20. Students from 28 SUNY colleges and universities presented 179 research projects in two poster sessions, and another 100 projects in oral presentations throughout the day. Every spring, SURC brings together undergraduate researchers and faculty mentors for two daylong programs of presentations, performances, art displays and poster sessions held on two separate campuses. The second SURC event was April 21, at Monroe Community College in Rochester.
Transfer Transition Leaders at the University at Albany are former transfer students who have demonstrated excellent academic success and leadership abilities. They are nominated and selected by the Office of Student Engagement, part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. After extensive training, they work with new transfer students by helping them with transitional and orientation activities, supporting transfer Living-Learning Communities, and providing co-curricular co-curricular and social programming for new transfer students.

Seven Spanish students spent spring break completing service learning projects in colorful Colombia, where the temperature was 78 degrees and higher. They toured La Universidad del North, enjoyed the lush vegetation, visited museums, hit the beach, and spent time at Sofia Camargo - an all-girls' school, grades first through eleventh - teaching lessons in English.
SUNY Oswego has made merit awards to a select group of about 200 transfer students who started at the college in fall 2017.

More than 400 Buffalo State students presented their own research or creative work at the annual Student Research and Creativity Conference held on campus in April 2017. Students from many academic disciplines including art, business, education, science, and technology explained their work using posters or presentations. Students used gallery and performance space to demonstrate work in the performing and visual arts.
A total of 14 new members were inducted into the SUNY Oneonta Alpha-Kappa-Iota chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society, during a ceremony on April 7.
Artwork by 73 students is featured in SUNY Oneonta's 2017 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. On display through May 13 at the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery in the college's Fine Arts Center, the exhibition features more than 100 works by student artists. Featured artworks were chosen from an open jury process and works entered by the art faculty. Painting, drawing, sculpture, digital print, digital video and an assortment of mixed media make up this year's offerings.

Fourteen SUNY Oneonta music industry students got a look at the latest products in the music industry during the 2017 National Music Merchants Association Show in Anaheim, Calif., from Jan. 19-22. The annual global music products tradeshow featured 1,800 exhibits and more than 6,000 brands of sound, lighting and recording gear; instruments; sheet music; gadgets and more.
